LSLL All Stars

An exciting pinnacle to the Little League season for our older kids is the opportunity to participate in post-season All Star tournaments.  Little League offers tournament team opportunities for kids 8-13, culminating in the Little League World Series for the 10-12 year olds in Williamsport, PA each August.
 
Loudoun South Little League fields 9 teams in support of post-season tournaments:

        º 8/9 All Star Team (American & National)
         º 8-10 All Star Team (American & National)

           º 9-11 All Star Team (American & National)

 
Players in A through Juniors are eligible for the LSLL tournament teams**.  The pool of kids for Tournament teams are selected by managers and the team is ultimately approved by our Board of Directors from the pool. No player is guaranteed to be selected to a tournament team, as the LSLL objective is not necessarily to put the best 12-14 players on the field, but to field the team best able to win the tournament!  Being selected to a previous tournament team does not guarantee placement in subsequent years.
 
Being selected to a tournament team is a great honor, but it is also a significant time commitment.  Beginning in early June, tournament teams can be expected to practice every day leading up to the District 16 tournament.  Each team will play in a post-season tournament with other teams from Little League District 16 (Upper Loudoun, Lower Loudoun, Central Loudoun, Dulles, and Loudoun South).  These district tournaments are staggered depending on the age groups and expected to start in mid-June to mid-July and expected to continue up to 2 weeks (provided we keep winning)!  Winners of the District 16^th tournaments advance to the VA State Little League tournaments.  These tournaments are:

* 8-10 Year Old - Report date July 6, Tournament Dates July 7 - TBD, Location - Bridgewater

* 9-11 Year Old - Report date July 13, Tournament Dates July 14 - TBD, Location - Luray

* Little League (10-12 Yrs) - Report date July 20, Tournament Dates July 21 - TBD, Location - Triangle

* Junior League - Report Date July 20, Tournament Dates July 21 - TBD, Location - Bluefield

State tournaments can run up to 10 days.  Winners of the VA State tournaments may be invited to proceed to Regional tournaments.
 
Players that are invited to participate on tournament teams must be available to participate in practices and games during this time frame.  Pre-planned vacations during this timeframe may preclude your player from being selected.  Parents of players on teams that advance to the state tournaments may also have additional costs incurred for travel and hotel expenses.
 
LSLL is providing this information to parents early so that as summer vacation plans are considered, this information is considered by those families who wish their players to be considered for an LSLL All Star post-season tournament team.  Additional details and specific instructions about tournament team selection will be provided to parents in the early May timeframe.
 
 
** Some restrictions apply.  To be eligible, players must participate in at least 60% of the team’s regular season games. Add’l restrictions imposed by LL may apply.
